As vice president of R&D, David Gardner oversees Design Services for all hardware and software products generated by his division, including production test engineering, PCB design, regulatory compliance, metrology, packaging, sustaining engineering, build and test infrastructure, and internal applications. In this role, he also supervises product documentation and localization for both hardware and software.
Gardner joined NI in 1998 as a software manager. He’s held numerous leadership positions at several large application software organizations, including in international R&D and hardware services.
Before NI, Gardner spent 13 years at Fisher Controls (Emerson Process) as a design engineer and engineering manager where he co-invented two patents.
Gardner holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Iowa State University. He’s served as captain, EMT, and president of his local volunteer fire department.
