Planet NI helps engineers and students in developing countries work toward economic prosperity and sustainable development by providing access to technology and education. This initiative nurtures local innovation by making engineering tools affordable, accessible, and relevant to academic organizations, entrepreneurs, and small and medium enterprises. National Instruments offices around the world define and support their programs locally by collaborating with groups and individuals that share the Planet NI mission, which is to improve the world through technology.

MachineSpy, a recently formed enterprise, consists of three employees (including two engineers) who learned about NI LabVIEW software and data acquisition while attending their university. They used LabVIEW, the NI WLS-9234 module, and their vibration expertise to build a predictive maintenance system based on vibration analysis. In five months, they developed a product capable of diagnosing faults in any motor and friendly enough for any operator to use.
"Help from NI allowed us to form a new enterprise with great growth potential. Through Planet NI, we achieved the support we had been seeking for many years in other organizations. We liked the level of attention and the easy process of doing business with them."
