The NI LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module extends the benefits of graphical programming to the development of your HMI/SCADA or high-channel-count data-logging applications. With LabVIEW DSC, you can interactively develop a distributed monitoring and control system with tags ranging from a few dozen to thousands. This module includes tools for communicating to conventional PLCs as well as programmable automation controllers such as NI CompactRIO targets, logging data to historical databases, managing alarms and events, and developing HMIs all within the single LabVIEW environment.
LabVIEW DSC is shipped with support for commonly used industrial protocols including OLE for Process Control (OPC). This enables an application to communicate with virtually all PLCs and programmable automation controllers. This flexibility allows for easy integration of LabVIEW into existing SCADA/HMI systems.
With LabVIEW DSC, you can easily log data to the built-in networked historical database or log to your existing enterprise relational database. Without additional programming, you can use these same configuration-based tools to set up the logging of alarm and notification data.
Developing control applications requires expertise in several areas, including process logic, control system design, and user interface design. LabVIEW DSC provides an alternative to the conventional development environment with a single development environment for logic and HMI development.
