After you generate data in LabVIEW, you can use the Capture Data button or right-click option to save data for later use.

The following image highlights the parts of the editor you use to save and retrieve data.

Data source—Displays data generated by a device or a program. Any time you see data in LabVIEW, you can capture the data and save it to use later.
Capture Data button—Captures the data displayed on each data source on the panel. LabVIEW saves this information as data items in the Data pane.

To capture data from a single data source, right-click the data source and select Capture Data.

Data pane Contains all the data you captured from data sources in this project.
Data item—A piece of data that originated from a single data source at a single time. You can use data items in the following ways:
  • Viewing saved data—Double-click the data item to view it in the workspace.
  • Copying saved data onto the panel—Drag a data item from the Data pane onto the panel.
  • Copying saved data into a specific control—Drag a data item from the Data pane onto a control or indicator that can display the same data type.
