Ultrascale FlexRIO Firmware Update

Overview

This utility allows users to update the onboard firmware of a Kintex Ultrascale FlexRIO module. NOTE: The 18.7 firmware update fixes an issue related to soft-rebooting a system, described via a distributed notification to all affected customers. This update need only be applied to the PXIe-5763 and PXIe-5764. For any other Ultrascale FlexRIO module, only the 18.6 firmware update should be applied. This utility can not be used to update a module with the same or newer firmware version. In order to execute this firmware update, follow these instructions:

  1. Install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 17.0 or newer from the LabVIEW download page.
  2. Download and extract the attached folder. It is important to keep the relative file hierarchy within this folder; if the contents of this folder are moved relative to each other, the utility will not work.
  3. Run the included application. This application will automatically discover all applicable Kintex Ultrascale FlexRIO modules when it is opened.
  4. If any modules eligible for a firmware update are found, click the “Update Firmware?” button and run the application again. This will automatically update the firmware for all eligible modules; this update can take a few minutes.
  5. After the update is complete, restart the system. You can confirm the firmware has updated by looking at the device entry in MAX or by opening the firmware update utility again. The module firmware should show the new version.
