Note: In the past, you were able to program NI switches with either the NI-DAQmx or NI-SWITCH driver. As of 2015, the NI-DAQmx switching palette is not recommended for new designs and NI strongly recommends using the NI-SWITCH driver for new designs. For more information, please review the following document: What Drivers Can I Use to Program My NI Switch Modules?
The following table lists the latest DAQ driver that is supported for various National Instruments PXI and PXIe Switches. The table also shows which driver can be used with Windows, Linux, Real-Time or Mac OS X.
NI-DAQmx and NI-DAQ Driver Support: PXI and PXIe Switches
PCI, PXI, PCIe and PXIe - Devices listed by NI [Family Number] are available in both multiple Bus architectures. Devices listed with NI PXI- or NI PCI- before the number are available in that specific Bus architecture only. For Example, the listing for the NI PXI-2501 indicates that this device is only available in the PXI architecture, while the PXI/PXIe-2512 indicates that the device is available in both PXI and PXIe form factors..
NI-DAQ 6.9.3 or Earlier requires NT Service Pack 4 or greater. NI-DAQ 7.x (Traditional and mx) requires NT Service Pack 6 or greater.
For information on supported Linux distributions, visit /linux/support.htm#1 or see the driver readme file.
The host system must also support the version of NI-DAQ listed. NI-DAQmx for LabVIEW RT is only supported on Pharlap RT Systems with LabVIEW RT installed.
