NI Linux Real-Time Controller Support for Polling Packet Detection

Overview

This document discusses the use of polling for packet detection on a controller running the NI Linux Real-Time OS. Due to hardware limitations, only a subset of controllers support polling packet detection.

Device Support

The mechanism for the packet polling detection were implemented on Zynq ARM nilrt devices. The following list of devices support this:

  • cRIO-906x
  • NI-914x (Ethernet RIO)
  • sbRIO-9607
  • sbRIO-9627
  • sbRIO-9637
  • sbRIO-9651 System on Module
  • roboRIO
  • roboRIO 2.0
  • Controller for FlexRIO

If you are unsure, you can find out using the Network Settings tab for your device in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). Under one of your network adapters, click More Settings. If your device supports polling, then you will see a drop-down menu next to Packet Detection, which contains polling as an option.
