NI Support for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2, and All 32-Bit Windows

NI is committed to providing support for a variety of test and measurement solutions on the industry's latest and most popular operating systems. Since Microsoft is ending extended support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 in favor of newer platforms, NI will be similarly ending support.

NI will also be ending support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 due to changes Microsoft is implementing in the Windows driver signing process. This change affects versions of Windows prior to Windows 10, including Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2008 R2. NI will continue to support Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 moving forward.

On May 1, 2021, NI software will drop support for Microsoft Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit), Windows 8.1 (32- and 64-bit), Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 R2, and all 32-bit Windows operating systems. NI hardware and software released after May 1, 2021, will not install or execute correctly on those operating systems.

After May 1, 2021, NI will continue to provide new 32-bit versions of many applications (e.g. LabVIEW, TestStand), as well as support for the development and deployment of 32-bit applications on supported 64-bit Windows operating systems. New versions of NI hardware drivers will install only on supported 64-bit operating systems and will include both 32-bit and 64-bit user-mode support, meaning users can continue to run 32- or 64-bit applications on supported 64-bit operating systems.

Existing NI hardware and software released prior to May 1, 2021, will not be affected and will continue to be supported according to their lifecycle polices. For more operating system support details for each product, see the product’s associated readmes, product documentation resources, and product lifecycle policies.
