The Sound and Vibration Assistant is an interactive measurement program you can use to acquire, analyze, log, and present data from dynamic-signal acquisition devices, multifunction data acquisition devices, and instruments, with no programming required. Use the Sound and Vibration Assistant to interactively create projects to perform simple and advanced tasks in audio, noise vibration harshness, and machine monitoring applications.
The Sound and Vibration Assistant requires your computer to meet the following minimum system requirements:
Note: The Sound and Vibration Toolkit 2010 and the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 2010 do not support Windows NT/Me/2000/98/95 or the Windows Server non-R2 editions.
Note: The Sound and Vibration Assistant also requires you to update to Adobe Flash Player 7.0 or later in order to access the interactive tutorial.
You must be logged in with administrator privileges to install the Sound and Vibration Assistant.
You can install all of your LabVIEW products—including the Sound and Vibration Assistant—using the LabVIEW 2010 Platform DVDs. You can find installation instructions for the Sound and Vibration Assistant along with activation instructions in the following locations:
To request additional LabVIEW 2010 Platform DVDs, refer to the National Instruments Web site.
Note: If you purchased this product with an NI Software Suite or NI Product Bundle, use the installation media that shipped with your purchase to install this product.
Complete the following steps to install the Sound and Vibration Assistant on Windows 7/Vista/XP/Server 2008 (64-bit)/Server 2003 (32-bit):
You can access the Sound and Vibration Assistant Help, part of the LabVIEW SignalExpress Help, by selecting Help»Sound and Vibration Assistant Help and navigating to the Step Reference»Sound and Vibration Assistant Steps book on the Contents tab. You also can view the step and parameter help in the context help windows in the right pane of the Sound and Vibration Assistant.
You can access the Sound and Vibration Assistant example projects by selecting Help»Open Example»Sound and Vibration Assistant in the Sound and Vibration Assistant.
The Sound and Vibration Assistant example projects are intended for use with National Instruments dynamic signal acquisition hardware. If you use any other device that does not support the specific measurements in the example project, you must change the Measurement Type to a measurement type supported by the device you want to use. You can change the Measurement Type on the Channel View tab or on the DAQmx Acquire Step Setup tab.
You can access the software and documentation known issues list online. Refer to the National Instruments Web site for an up-to-date list of known issues in the Sound and Vibration Assistant.
The following items are the IDs and titles of a subset of issues fixed between the Sound and Vibration Assistant 7.0 and 2010. If you have a Bug ID, you can search this list to validate that the issue has been fixed. This is not an exhaustive list of issues fixed in the current version of the Sound and Vibration Assistant.
