Controller Deployable Firmware Installation Instructions

Complete the following steps to update PXI Controller Firmware Package:

1. Download and save the firmware image for your PXI controller to the system that contains the controller to update. If the target system runs RT OS, save the firmware image to a host system.
2. On the host system launch NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) with administrator privileges.
3. Use MAX to upgrade the firmware.
   • For Windows Systems: Open MAX and expand Devices and Interfaces under the My System tab.
   • For RT systems: From the host machine, open MAX and expand Remote Systems. Expand the target system and expand Devices and Interfaces.
4. For the controller to be updated:
   • Expand the Chassis tab and select the controller that will receive the firmware update.
   • Click the Update Firmware button in the right pane.
   • Locate and select the firmware image file saved in step 1. Click the Open button. A dialog box appears with information about the selected firmware image.
   • Click Begin Update to confirm and start the update.
5. Follow any additional instructions provided when the update completes.

If the dialog reports an issue, record the error number and message and contact NI.
