NI EDID Update Utility Help

October 2012, 373444B-01

This help file describes how to use the National Instruments Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) Update Utility user interface (UI) to update or read from the EDID on an EDID-supported device. By updating the EDID of an EDID-supported device, you can use the device to simulate HDMI devices when testing HDMI components.

Note  This help file describes legacy NI EDID Update Utility VIs you can use to update or read from the EDID on an EDID-supported device. To use current VIs with current solutions to update or read from the EDID on an EDID-supported device, refer to the NI Multimedia Test LabVIEW Reference Help.

Use the NI EDID Update Utility to read or write EDID from either the flash memory of the EDID-supported device or a .bin file, a binary EDID file. You can use this utility to update the EDID onsite instead of returning the EDID-supported device for EDID update. You can update or replace the EDID with an EDID provided by NI, an EDID from other types of devices, or your own custom EDID.

You can use the NI EDID Update Utility to update the EDID on the EDID-supported device to reflect that of an HDMI device. You can then use the EDID-supported device to simulate an HDMI device to test HDMI components, including consumer electronics control (CEC) messages.

This utility consists of a standalone UI and LabVIEW VIs.
