Introduction

An internal software component used with the NI PXIe-7820R, NI PXIe-7821R, and NI PXIe-7822R might cause data integrity issues when using specific software features available with the device. Under high system utilization, it is possible for a DMA FIFO (Host to Target) transfer to receive incorrect data when data is being transferred between the NI PXIe-782x device and another device using a Peer to Peer Stream. Only the DMA FIFO data received by the NI PXIe-782x device is vulnerable to corruption in this circumstance.

Recovery

The R Series Multifunction RIO Device Drivers February 2016 release resolves this issue. In addition, NI has released two software patches to correct the issue for users who are unable to upgrade the driver version. The following table describes which download you should use depending on the version of LabVIEW you are using.

* If you have LabVIEW 2014 SP1, you can either upgrade to the most recent version of the R Series Multifunction RIO Device Drivers or install only the patch for the affected devices if you do not have a need to upgrade to the most recent driver.

Complete the following steps to update your systems.

  1. Download and install the appropriate software for your system.
  2. Recompile any VIs or bitfiles for all NI PXIe-782x targets. Right-click the build specification of the VI in the project and select Rebuild to force a compile.
  3. Update any applications that reference the old bitifile to use the new bitfiles when executed.

Note: This driver release and associated patches also contain the fix for issues resolved with the R Series Multifunction RIO 14.5.1 patch.
