This article answers the following questions:
- Do I need to renew service for my perpetual software license?
- How do I renew service on my existing perpetual single-seat software licenses, or perpetual licenses managed under the Volume License Program, such as Volume License Agreement Program or VLA?
- Will the price of license renewal vary?
Value of Renewing Perpetual Licenses
A perpetual license means that the version of the software you purchase never stops working. The benefits of software service are included for the first year of perpetual licenses. After the first year, software service is renewable on an annual basis. Even if you do not subscribe to software service, your software will continue to operate with the version you currently have installed. Refer to Single-Seat License Program for more information about software service benefits.
Single-Seat and VLA Licenses
Three months before the service agreement accompanying your perpetual software license ends, an NI representative will contact you to provide you with a renewal quote for your service agreement.
You can pay for your service agreement renewal by sending a purchase order to services@ni.com or the representative. You also can use your quote to check out online.
The price will be 25% of the list price of the perpetual software. Late fees increase the price you will pay for renewal when software service is not renewed on time.
