NI SHOWCASES NEXT GENERATION DEFENSE LINEUP AT DSEI JAPAN

DEMONSTRATION AT DSEI JAPAN, 15-17 MARCH, BOOTH H7-172

TOKYO, Japan – March 1, 2023 – NI (NASDAQ: NATI), which for decades has helped the aerospace and defense industry reach new levels of performance with its test strategies, is exhibiting its next generation of products and solutions at DSEI Japan.

NI’s next-generation defense lineup includes products that help customers shorten and streamline their testing processes to enable them to get products to market safer, faster and more efficiently. NI provides an unparalleled opportunity for test engineers to build and experiment with prototypes while leveraging its more than 40 years' experience in defense test and validation.  NI continues to produce modular hardware, software, services and systems that set the standard for validation through automated test equipment and measurement systems. By defining test strategies through engagement with NI test experts, customers can see their systems in action and experience the projects they will be working on ahead of their investment.

“Time to market and risk mitigation are critical for designing and validating high-complexity defense systems,” said Luke Schreier, SVP & GM, Aerospace and Defense Business Unit at NI. “Combining high-fidelity simulation with high performance and real-time instrumentation yields better designs, faster cycles, and greater capabilities.  NI is honored to be showcasing many of these products and solutions at DSEI Japan.”

NI products and solutions at DSEI Japan include:

NI’s Satellite Link Emulator (SLE) with the Ansys Systems Tool Kit (STK)

This novel SLE is intended to validate next-generation satellite communication links with a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) approach that delivers maximum test fidelity and flexibility, emulating real-world system behavior and channel effects in a laboratory setting.  The Ansys Systems Tool Kit (STK) is integrated with NI PXI hardware and LabVIEW FPGA, enabling communication links between satellite and ground stations to be validated against accurate and realistic channel parameters in real-time.

“As the world-leading software for digital mission engineering, Ansys STK helps model sophisticated satellite missions that include air and ground platforms and their RF communications payloads. STK’s approach to digital mission engineering and NI’s Satellite Link Emulation capabilities ensure that critical mission requirements are thoroughly designed, validated, and tested early and throughout the life cycle, helping to ensure mission success,” said Shashank Narayan, senior director, R&D at Ansys. “RF payload modelling in STK can also include high fidelity electromagnetic physics by linking to Ansys HFSS antenna system models, which can incorporate host platform interaction effects and RF co-site interference assessment. Empowering the digital transformation for our customers, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) plays a critical role. SysML models that capture system requirements, structure and behavior can be injected into Ansys ModelCenter and Ansys STK and help in the validation of these models from the early conceptual phase into the later phases of the engineering and product lifecycle.”

“The simulation is only as good as the data you put into the model — so from NI’s perspective, the STK software provides an accurate first simulation, and then NI’s platform gives the ability to measure the physical input and output (I/O) points or the physical hardware as it actually operates, which gives you a next level of detail that you can then circle back to your design,” says Chris Behnke, Chief Offering Manager of Radar, Electronic Warfare, and Communications at NI.   “The real-time nature really comes into play when the hardware and software solutions can run in parallel. As the simulation is running, you can look at your simulation results and your real-time hardware results in unison and in sync to see both sides of the coin.”
