Procedure Throws Error or Terminates When a PXIe-4080/4081/4082 DMM Is Used

PXIe-408x digital multimeters are not compatible with several Calibration Executive procedures for which a PXI-407x digital multimeter is recommended as an instrument standard.

For more information and a list of procedures, refer to "DMM Instrument Standard Considerations" in Calibration Executive Help.

Workaround:

Do not substitute a PXIe-4080/4081/4082 in a procedure in which a PXI-4070/4071/4072 DMM is recommended.

In Read-Only Mode, Uncertainty Database Error Handling Is Impaired

When the uncertainty database is read only (for example, the operator logs in without administrator privileges), an initial attempt to manage uncertainties causes Error -2147217911 when launching the Manage Uncertainty UI, as Calibration Executive tries to update the legacy database.

After the database is updated to the new format in Calibration Executive 6.0 and later, the initial error when launching the Manage Uncertainty UI is resolved. But any operation that modifies the uncertainties database results in Error -2147467259.

Actions that can result in this error include:

  • Importing an uncertainty.
  • Modifying the uncertainty version or notes from the UI results.
  • Deleting an uncertainty.
  • Modifying the Guard Band notes.

Workaround:

To resolve these errors, you should remove the read-only attribute of the uncertainty database, and then re-open the Manage Uncertainty UI.

Error Occurs Generating a Calibration Report on a Non-English OS

Windows OS for languages other than English (Spanish, for example) may use a date format with extended characters. In this case, PDF, Word, and Excel reports cannot be generated using default report options; Calibration Executive displays an error:

"The report file was not at the expected path or has been corrupted."

Workaround:

Configure report options to remove Calibration Date from the report file name. For details about customizing report names, refer to "Configuring Report Options" in Calibration Executive Help.

Installing Version 6.0 on Japanese OS with Suggested Components Causes Error

When you install Calibration Executive 6.0 on a Japanese operating system and accept the pre-selected additional items, an error occurs at the NI-HSDIO-Documentation package.

Workaround:

When you install Calibration Executive on a Japanese OS, deselect all NI-HSDIO components from the additional items list in NI Package Manager. In this case, however, the Japanese OS system cannot be used to calibrate high-speed digital I/O hardware.

Error Occurs If Path to Custom Report Stylesheet or CustomReports Folder Changes

If the file path for a custom report stylesheet or the CustomReports folder changes (for example, if a user's Documents folder is cleaned up), Calibration Executive displays an error when the report generator is launched:

"Calibration Executive: Report Gen: Report stylesheets, templates, or schema are not available. Reinstall Calibration Executive to restore these necessary files.

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\CalibrationExecutive\CustomReports\
cex_CustomReports_config.ini"

The report generator then closes abruptly.

Workaround:

Do one of the following:

  • Copy the content of the CustomReports folder (including the style sheet) to the expected location.
  • Manually edit the cex_Config.ini file at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Calibration Executive\Config\, and change CustomReportsPath to point to the existing location (if known).
  • Delete the CustomReportsPath line in the cex_Config.ini file to force Calibration Executive to reset to the default location.

Fatal Error Occurs at Adjustment

NI 4461, NI 6704, and NI 6713 calibration procedures fail to create adjustment sessions and return a fatal error. When this error occurs, you must terminate the procedure and either use Windows Device Manager to disable and then re-enable the PCI or PXI device or shut down the system completely and power it back on again.

Verify Only run mode works correctly.

Workaround:

Use a previous version of Calibration Executive to execute the Verify & Adjust run mode on PCI/PXI-4461, -6704, and -6713 devices until a fix becomes available for version 6.0.

TestStepName Field Is Logged Incorrectly for Framework 2.0 Procedures

The calibration reports database is logging the TestStepName field as "Adjust Only" for all test points.
