Migration Options for USB-8472/73/76 CAN Interface


NI is discontinuing USB-847x CAN/LIN devices. This document describes recommendations and considerations for transitioning from the USB-847x CAN/LIN devices to the newer generation of USB-850x NI-XNET CAN/LIN devices.

At NI, we are committed to our customers’ success. Therefore, we will continue to offer the USB-847x devices for sale until January 31, 2020. We will fill orders on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are exhausted, based on delivery date.

We cannot guarantee that all orders will be filled. If you do not plan to transition to a replacement offering, we recommend you purchase all future-required USB-847x devices in this time frame. 

NI offers a recommended replacement for new and existing applications, the new USB-850x CAN/LIN devices, which feature upgraded hardware capabilities and support from the NI-XNET driver. Migrating existing applications to a new USB-850x requires porting NI-CAN code to NI-XNET.
