FlexRay Cluster Properties

Last Modified: July 20, 2020

The following properties are available on the Cluster Properties page for FlexRay protocol.

  • Name—Cluster name. This must be unique within the database.
  • Protocol—Communication protocol of the cluster (CAN, FlexRay, or LIN).
  • Channels—FlexRay channels on which frames must be transmitted: A, B, A+B, or None.
  • Baud Rate—Baud rate at which the cluster runs: 10.00 MBaud, 5.00 MBaud, or 2.50 MBaud.
    • Bit Time—Duration of an individual bit in a digital transmission, expressed in microseconds (µs). The value for this property is calculated; it changes with the Baud Rate selection.
    • Sample Clock Period—Value dependent on the Baud Rate selection: 0.0125 µs, 0.025 µs, or 0.05 µs.
  • TSS Transmitter—Number of bits in the Transmission Start Sequence (TSS). The range for this property is 3–15 bits.
  • CAS RX Low Max—Upper limit of the collision avoidance symbol (CAS) acceptance window. The range for this property is 67–99 gdBit.
  • Cluster Drift Damping—Cluster drift damping factor, based on the longest microtick used in the cluster. The range for this property is 0–5 MT.
  • Cold Start Attempts—Maximum number of times a node in this cluster can start the cluster by initiating schedule synchronization.
  • Max Sync Nodes—Maximum number of nodes that send frames with the sync frame indicator bit set to one. The range for this property is 2–15.
  • Cycle Time—FlexRay cycle duration in microseconds (µs).
  • Macrotick—Duration of the clusterwide nominal macrotick, expressed in microseconds (µs). The range for this property is 1–6 µs.
  • Macroticks Per Cycle—Number of macroticks in a communication cycle. The range for this property is 10–16000 MT.
  • Network Idle Time—Network Idle Time duration, expressed in macroticks. The range for this property is 2–805 MT.
  • Number of Static Slots—Number of frame slots in the static segment. The range for this property is 2–1023.
  • Static Slot—Duration of a slot in the static segment, expressed in macroticks. Each static slot is used to transmit one (static) frame on the bus. The range for this property is 4–661 MT.
  • Number of Minislots—Number of minislots available in the dynamic segment. The range for this property is 0–7986.
  • Minislot—Duration of a minislot, expressed in macroticks. Minislots are the dynamic segment time increments. The range for this property is 2–63 MT.
  • Offset Correction Start—Start of the offset correction phase within the Network Idle Time, expressed as number of macroticks from the start of the cycle. The range for this property is 9–15999 MT.
  • Symbol Window—Symbol window duration, expressed in macroticks. The symbol window is a slot after the static and dynamic segment, and is used to transmit Collision Avoidance symbols (CAS) and/or Media Access Test symbols (MTS). The range for this property is 0–142 MT.
  • Max Payload Length—Maximum payload length for any frame in this cluster. The range for this property is 0–254 bytes (even numbers only).
  • Minislot Action Point Offset—Number of macroticks the minislot action point is offset from the beginning of a minislot. The range for this property is 1–31 MT.
  • Dynamic Slot Idle Phase—Duration of the dynamic slot idle phase. The range for this property is 0–2 minislots.
  • Wakeup Enabled—Indicator of whether the cluster supports wakeup.
    • Wakeup Symbol RX Idle—Number of bits the node uses to test the idle portion duration of a received wakeup symbol. The range for this property is 14–59 gdBit (bit duration).
    • Wakeup Symbol RX Low—Number of bits the node uses to test the low portion duration of a received wakeup symbol. The range for this property is 10–55 gdBit (bit duration).
    • Wakeup Symbol RX Window—Size of the window used to detect wakeups. The range for this property is 76–301 gdBit (bit duration).
    • Wakeup Symbol TX Idle—Number of bits the node uses transmit the wakeup symbol idle portion. The range for this property is 45–180 gdBit (bit duration).
    • Wakeup Symbol TX Low—Number of bits the node uses transmit the wakeup symbol low phase. The range for this property is 15–60 gdBit (bit duration).
  • Payload Length—Payload length of a static frame. All static frames in the cluster have the same payload length. The range for this property is 0–254 bytes (even numbers only).
  • Action Point Offset—Number of macroticks that the action point is offset from the beginning of a static slot or symbol window.
  • Max Without Clock Correction Passive—Threshold for the number of consecutive even/odd cycle pairs with missing clock correction terms that cause the controller to transition from the Protocol Operation Control status of Normal Active to Normal Passive. Values for this property are in the range 1–15 even/odd cycle pairs.
  • Max Without Clock Correction Fatal—Threshold for the number of consecutive even/odd cycle pairs with missing clock correction terms that cause the controller to transition from the Protocol Operation Control status of Normal Active or Normal Passive to the Halt state.
