Back up a DataFinder, Data Preprocessor, or an Analysis Automation instance in a backup
file to restore the instance when necessary.
In SystemLink, select
Data Indexing, or
Data Preprocessor Instances,
DataFinder Instances, or
Analysis Automation Instances.
Select an instance and click
if the instance is running.
and specify the folder where you want to save the backup file. Use a UNC path to specify the folder. An example UNC path
Specify whether the backup of a DataFinder or Data Preprocessor instance should exclude the index. If you exclude the index,
you need to reindex the instance after it has been restored. This may take some time. You can only back up instances with
their index if the index size is smaller than 50 GB.
Adaptors connect DataFinder instance indexes to different databases and store the index in these databases. Make the following
settings for DataFinder instances that use the Microsoft SQL Server as an index adaptor.
||Creates a default backup of a DataFinder instance that uses the Microsoft SQL Server as an index adaptor.
||Creates a backup of a DataFinder instance that uses the Microsoft SQL Server as an
index adaptor with which you can move a DataFinder instance
to another computer. The backup file contains all necessary
information for connecting to the Microsoft SQL Server. You
do not need to recreate the index of a migrated DataFinder
instance. If you created the backup of a DataFinder instance
in the Migration mode and restored
this instance through the menu on a different computer, you can no longer
use the original DataFinder instance.
OK to save the backup. Backups have the following file extensions:

To create a schedule that backs up the instances regularly, select Backup server
regularly, make your settings, and click
OK. Use a UNC path to specify the folder. An example
UNC path is \\Server\MyFolder.
