Configure a SystemLink client to establish a connection between your SystemLink server
and an NI Linux Real-Time client with LabVIEW.
Before setting up a client, launch NI
Package Manager and install the following products on the host machine:
-
SystemLink Server
-
LabVIEW and Drivers

Note
If you need to set up a CompactRIO
Linux RT target, install NI CompactRIO and Drivers.
Also ensure
your server has enough node licenses available in Volume License Manager.
-
On the host machine, launch NI MAX.
-
Ensure the firmware on the target is 7.0 or higher and that the date and time are correct.
-
In NI MAX, right-click the target and select Format
Disk.
-
Click Add/Remove Software and install the Linux RT
System Image.
-
Under
SystemLink Settings, ensure the DNS alias and Server are correct.

Note
If you want to create a DNS alias for your server, refer to steps 5-6 in
Setting Up a SystemLink Server.
-
Launch and log in to NI SystemLink Web Application.
-
Click
Systems Manager and click
Pending systems.
-
Click
Approve next to the name of the target.
The target is now a client connected to your SystemLink server. To
manage the client in NI SystemLink Web Application, click Systems
Manager and then click Managed systems.
The image below shows an example list of clients connected to a server.
-
Select the workspace you want to contain the system.
This determines which resources the system can interact with. To learn more about
workspaces, refer to the access control help.
When you add a system to a workspace, all data the system produces will
automatically be stored in the workspace. SystemLink also adds all that system's
assets to the workspace.
-
Optional:
If you want to prevent actions, such as installing software or restarting, from
executing on your client, select the client in Managed
Systems and click . These jobs will now be queued and will not execute until the
system is unlocked. You can view all jobs, including those that are currently
queued, under History.
