Managing Access to SystemLink

Last Modified: March 31, 2021

As a system administrator, specify which parts of Systemlink different users can access through workspaces, roles, and privileges.

NI SystemLink Web Application uses role-based access control (RBAC) to specify privileges for systems, data, and analysis routines in SystemLink. These privileges determine which people or systems can access resources, what they can do with those resources, and what areas they can access.

Complete the following tasks to control how different users interact with SystemLink.
  1. If users will access SystemLink using LDAP credentials, set up LDAP authentication for SystemLink.
  2. If users will access SystemLink with their existing credentials, identity, and access levels in your organization, configure SystemLink to authenticate using OpenID Connect.
  3. Create a workspace. If you will only need one workspace for all users, you can use the default workspace instead. Refer to the RBAC conceptual overview for more information about the default workspace. Creating a workspace in addition to the default workspace requires a SystemLink Advanced Server license.
  4. Create roles and define privileges for each role.
  5. Assign roles to users.
  6. Archive workspaces you're no longer using.
