Changing a System Name

Last Modified: November 19, 2020

Modify the name of a system to easily identify the system.

Before you begin, you must connect the system to the server as a managed system. When a client system connects to a SystemLink Server, the server uses the system's hostname to identify it. A hostname is often not human readable because IT administrators require each hostname in a network be unique. Changing the system alias helps you quickly identify the system.
  1. In NI SystemLink Web Application, click Systems Manager.
  2. Click Managed systems and double-click the system you want to rename.
  3. Click System Settings.
  4. For Alias, enter a name you want to give the system.

Use the comments field to further identify the system.

After you enter an alias for the system, you can filter or search for the system by that name.
