Combining Search Conditions in an Advanced Search

Combine several search conditions to receive only specific search results. Data Navigation writes the operators for the individual search conditions in the operator line. The following table contains examples for combined search conditions.

Objective Search Parameters
Find files containing channels with the channel name MyChannel. Level Property Operator Value
C1 Channel Name = MyChannel
Operator line: C1
Find files with the filename MyData and the description My Test data. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File Filename = MyData
C2 File Description = My Test data
Operator line: C1 AND C2
Find files with the filename MyData1 and a channel group named MyGroup1. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File Filename = MyData1
C2 Group Name = MyGroup1
Operator line: C1 AND C2
Find files with the filename MyData1 that contain channel groups named MyGroup1 and channels with the unit m/s. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File Filename = MyData1
C2 Group Name = MyGroup1
C3 Channel Unit = m/s
Operator line: C1 AND C2 AND C3
Find files where the property DataPlugin name contains the values TDM or TDMS. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File DataPlugin name = TDM OR TDMS

You can also create two individual search conditions and combine them with the OR operator.

Find files where the file property DataPlugin name contains the value TDM or TDMS or the channel property Name contains the value MyChannel1. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File DataPlugin name = TDM OR TDMS
C2 Channel Name = MyChannel1
Operator line: C1 OR C2
Find files last edited on 10/29/2007 that contain either a channel named MyChannel1 or were edited by the author Tom. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File Modify date = 10/29/2007
C2 Channel Name = MyChannel1
C3 File Author = Tom
Operator line: C1 AND (C2 OR C3)
Find files with the filename MyData* and the file description Test* and sort the search results in ascending order by filename. Level Property Operator Value
C1 File Name = MyData*
C2 File Description = Test*
Operator line: C1 AND C2 Order By: C1

Click next to a search condition to specify whether the respective search results are returned in ascending or descending order. Data Navigation displays the sort order of the search results in the operator line. Search results from a federation cannot be returned in a specified order.
