Creating a Diagnostics File for a Service Request

Create a diagnostics file and send it to your NI support representative or submit a service request through Diagnostics files have the file extension *.zip and contain information about all existing DataFinder, Data Preprocessor, and Analysis Automation instances, like indexing processes or search queries.

  1. In Data Indexing or Data Preparation:
    1. Click DataFinder Instances or DataPreprocessor Instances on the dashboard.
    2. Select an instance and click »Manage»Global Settings»Logfile and Diagnostics File.
  2. Optional: In Analysis Automation:
    1. Click Instance on the dashboard.
    2. Click Global Settings»Logfile and Diagnostics File.
  3. Specify the scope of information that the system writes into the diagnostics file.
    Mode Description
    Standard Writes basic information to the diagnostics file.
    Extended Writes detailed information to the diagnostics file.
    User-defined Loads an XML file provided by NI that you can use to create a special diagnostics file. NI will send you this XML file following a support request and then uses this diagnostics file for error analysis.
  4. Click Create. Creating a diagnostics file may take a while.
  5. Click the filename to open or save the file.
