Install Python on the SystemLink server to execute Python scripts in Analysis Automation. You can install the SystemLink Python module or alternatively download and install Python from the web, as described below.

  1. Log in as administrator.
  2. Download Python 3.6 (64-bit) from www.python.org/downloads.

    Note

    SystemLink 19.5 supports Python 3.6 (64-bit) and Python 3.7 (64-bit).

  3. In the installer, activate the option for setting environment variables under Windows to call Python scripts. If the installer does not offer this option, you must set this variable manually in Windows. In NI SystemLink TDM Configuration, if you select the Local System Account setting as SystemLink TDM Account, you must install Python for All Users.
  4. Enter cmd to open the Windows input prompt.
  5. Execute the command pip install pywin32. Windows installs the Python extension pywin32 with the extension win32com.client on the server.
  6. Optional: If you want to use additional Python packages on the SystemLink server, you must install these packages. For example, you need the Python extension scipy for the analysis script Main.py contained in the Smooth_Channel_Py.anp analysis automation procedure. Install scipy by executing pip install scipy.
  7. Optional: If you want to simulate Python scripts in DIAdem, you must also install Python and additional Python packages on the DIAdem client.
