Setting Up a SystemLink Client for NI Linux Real-Time Targets

Last Modified: December 5, 2017

Install and configure SystemLink Client to establish a connection between your SystemLink server and an NI Linux Real-Time client.

Before setting up your client, install SystemLink Server and a supported version of LabVIEW on the host machine. Refer to Setting Up a SystemLink Server for help setting up your SystemLink Server.
  1. On your NI Linux Real-Time target, launch NI MAX.
  2. In NI MAX, ensure the target's firmware is 4.0 or higher and that the date and time matches the date and time on your server.
  3. On your SystemLink server, use NI MAX to deploy SystemLink Client and any additional software support your application requires to your Linux RT client.
  4. On your SystemLink server, launch the NI SystemLink Web Application and log in with the credentials you specified during setup.
  5. Click Systems Manager»Discovered Systems.
  6. Select the client and click Add Selected. If your client is on a different subnet than the server, you can also click Add by Address to add a system to Systems Manager. Your target is now a managed system on your server. You can transfer data between your client and server, and your client can now be managed in the NI SystemLink Web Application under Systems Manager»Managed Systems.
  7. Optional: If you want to prevent actions such as installing software or restarting from executing on your client, select the client in Managed Systems and click More»Lock. These jobs will now be queued and will not execute until the system is unlocked. You can view all jobs, including those that are currently queued, under History.
