Monitoring Data with Tags

    Create and configure a tag to track the value of a piece of data.

    1. On SystemLink Cloud, click Data.
    2. Create or modify a tag. Refer to the following table for steps to complete your goal.

      Create a tag
      1. Click Create.
      2. Specify a path for the tag.

        Use dot separators (.) instead of slashes in tag paths. The tag path is how you programmatically reference the tag. For example, Station1.Temperature.

      3. Specify the data type of the values the tag will hold.
      Modify an existing tag
      1. Locate the tag you want to modify.
      2. Click »Edit.
    3. Specify the retention type, which determines how long to store previous tag values. After you configure your tag, you can see a chart of current and past values under History.
    4. Specify whether the tag will aggregate values. If a tag collects aggregates, you can see the minimum, maximum, and average values of the tag, as well as its total number of updates, in the Tags list.
    5. Click Create or Update.
    6. Click »Edit next to the tag to view details or set keywords and properties. You can use keywords and properties to filter tags in Tags or programmatically using Query Tags.
    7. Click Tags to return to your list of tags.
    8. Click Filter next to query tags. You can include multiple properties, but only tags matching all the properties return as results.

    After you create and configure a tag, you can write tag values to tags, read tags, query tags, and create alarms or data visualizations using tag values.
