Distributing Applications

Use a Distribution document (.lvdist) to distribute your applications as a package or package installer.

  1. Click File»New»Distribution. The Distribution document opens and appears in the project.
  2. On the Document tab, choose the target on which to build the distribution in Build target.
  3. Select the output distribution type from Output type.
  4. In the Distribution document, click the Application/Library button.
  5. In the Add Application/Library dialog box, place a checkmark next to the application you want to distribute. Click OK.
  6. Optional: Click the Other Files button to add other support files.
  7. Optional: Click Calculate Dependencies to view run-time dependencies that your application requires. You can include additional dependencies by clicking the Dependencies button and selecting packages from the Add Dependency dialog box.
  8. Optional: Click the Hardware Configuration button to select the hardware configuration settings your application requires.
  9. On the Document tab, enter values in Company and Product.
  10. In Output directory, set the location to save the distribution output.
  11. In the NI Package section, enter information about the distribution output.
  12. Optional: In the Hardware configuration section, select the behavior settings you want to apply to the distribution output.
  13. Click File»Save all to save all files.
  14. Click Build. The Build Queue tab shows the status of the build process.

Click Locate item in Windows Explorer to locate the distribution in the output directory. You can distribute your software content using NI Package Manager or other distribution channels.
