Replacing the PXI Chassis Side Fans

    Use caution when removing the fan assembly to avoid damaging the internal wire harness.

    Equipment

    • Flathead screwdriver
    • #2 Phillips screwdriver
    1. Power off the ECUTS.
    2. Turn the quarter-turn locks on the right-side panel of the test rack using the flathead screwdriver.
    3. Remove the right-side panel of the test rack.
    4. Remove the four #4-40 side fan mounting screws from chassis using the #2 Phillips screwdriver.
    5. Remove the side fan cover from the chassis.
    6. Remove the two #2-56 side fan retention bracket mounting screws using the #2 Phillips screwdriver.

      4. Side Fan Cover
      5. Side Fan Cover Mounting Screws (4x)
    7. Pull the side fan assembly out of the chassis.
    8. Disconnect the side fan assembly plug from the internal chassis fan receptacle.
    9. Remove the side fan assembly.
    10. Install the replacement side fan assembly.
    11. Plug the side fan assembly plug into the internal chassis fan receptacle.
    12. Place the side fan assembly into the chassis side fan cavity.
    13. Screw in the two #2-56 side fan retention bracket mounting screws using the #2 Phillips screwdriver 0.6 N · m (5.0 lb · in.).
    14. Pull the extra cable from the side fan assembly aside using the side fan assembly cutout.
    15. Place the extra cable into the chassis side fan cavity.
    16. Screw in the four #4-40 side fan mounting screws to the chassis using the #2 Phillips screwdriver 0.8 N · m (6.7 lb · in.).
    17. Sit the right-side panel back into the test rack.
    18. Turn the two quarter-turn locks on the right-side panel of the test rack using the flathead screwdriver.
