Use the following information to configure the Windows firewall on the server computer to allow the TestStand client to access the REngine.exe application.

Complete the following steps to configure the Windows firewall on the server computer.

  1. Log in as a user with administrator privileges.
  2. Navigate to the standard Windows Control Panel facility for Windows firewall and click Allow an app or a program or feature through Windows Firewall on the left panel of the Windows Firewall window to launch the Allowed Apps or Programs window.
  3. Complete the following steps to add exceptions for the REngine.exe application with the firewall enabled.
    1. Click the Allow another app or program button to launch the Add an App or Program dialog box.
    2. Click Browse and select <TestStand>\Bin\REngine.exe.
    3. Click Add to close the Add an App or Program dialog box.
    4. Click OK to close the Allowed Apps or Programs window.
  4. Click Advanced settings on the left panel of the Windows Firewall window to launch the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security window.
  5. Complete the following steps to specify a security exception for DCOM.
    1. Click Inbound Rules on the left panel of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security window to display the list of inbound rules.
    2. Click New Rule on the Actions pane to launch the New Inbound Rule Wizard.
    3. Select Port and click the Next button.
    4. Select TCP, select Specific local ports, enter 135 in the Specific local ports control, and click Next.
    5. Select Allow the connection and click Next.
    6. Ensure that the Domain, Private, and Public options are enabled and click Next.
    7. In the Name control, enter DCOM and click Finish to close the New Inbound Rule Wizard.
