The Multi-Carrier tab enables you to aggregate multiple carriers from multiple modulations.

Configuration Options

This section provides the following details about the configured carriers.

File: Specifies the carriers that are configured for aggregation.

Frequency Offset: Specifies the frequency offset for the carrier by which the signal shifts when all the carriers are aggregated. The valid values are - 500 MHz to + 500 MHz, inclusive.

Phase Continuous: When this checkbox is selected, it coerces carrier frequency offset to the closest cyclic frequency offset value and updates Frequency Offset control. Frequency offset is recalculated each time any carrier is added, modified or removed. This checkbox is available when you add or edit a carrier.

Gain: Specifies the power level of the selected carrier relative to the added carriers. The valid range is -60 dB to 0 dB, inclusive.

Bandwidth: Specifies the carrier bandwidth.

Delay: Initiates aggregation at any point in the carrier that allows you to emulate similar signals with different time references.

Phase: Modifies the starting phase of the frequency aggregation.

Configuration Controls

RFmx Waveform Creator provides the following controls to configure carriers.

Add: Adds new carrier(s).

Remove: Removes carrier(s).

Remove All: Removes all carriers.

Randomize Delay: Randomizes the time delay of all the carriers in the random delay mode.

Reset Delay: Resets the random number generators that are used to randomize the time delay of each carrier in random mode.

Edit: Edits the carrier configuration.

Randomize Phase: Randomizes the phase.

Reset Phase: Resets the phase.

Desired Sample Rate: Represents the sample rate of the aggregated waveform.

Auto: When this checkbox is selected, the desired sample rate is automatically calculated based on the values of Sample Rate Mode and Oversampling Factor. When this checkbox is unselected, you can manually enter the desired sample rate. If the desired sample rate to waveform sample rate ratio exceeds 512, the desired sample rate is coerced to 512 times the base sampling rate.

Note Multi-stage resampling is not supported.

Oversampling Factor: Sets the oversampling factor. This control enables you to increase the default sample rate. The default value is 1. To change the oversampling factor manually, unselect the Auto checkbox.

Auto: When this checkbox is unselected, Oversampling Factor is disabled and set to 1.

Sample Rate Mode: Specifies how Desired Sample Rate is calculated when Auto checkbox is selected.

  • When Sample Rate Mode is Cellular, where, Base sample rate = 1.25 * max {Abs (Frequency Offset) + Bandwidth / 2} * 2 Maximum input sample rate = maximum sample rate among input waveforms
  • When Sample Rate Mode is Nyquist, Desired Sample Rate = 1.25 * max {Abs (Frequency Offset) + Bandwidth / 2} * 2

When oversampled waveforms are used, calculated desired sample rate may be lesser than input waveform sample rate, in which case consider increasing the oversampling factor.

The default value is Cellular. This control is disabled when Auto checkbox is unselected.

Note NI recommends using Cellular for NR and LTE waveforms.
