You can use MAX to interactively view your available NI-XNET hardware, including all devices and interfaces.

NI recommends using Hardware Configuration Utility instead of MAX for hardware configuration tasks.

Complete the following steps to identify NI-XNET interfaces in MAX:

  1. Depending on your system type, select your device in the configuration tree:
    System TypeDescription
Local Windows system My System » Devices and Interfaces
Remote LabVIEW Real-Time system Remote Systems » Remote System Name » Devices and Interfaces

Each NI-XNET device is listed by hardware model name followed by port name, for example, NI PXIe-8520 "ENET1, ENET2".

  2. Expand an NI-XNET device in the configuration tree to view its physical ports.

Each port is listed with the current interface name assignment, such as ENET1.

  3. Select a port in the configuration tree to view port-specific settings.
Tip You can assign a name of your choosing to the port. For example, you can change the interface for physical port 2 of a PXIe-8520 from ENET2 to ENET1.

You can also use the blinking LED test panel to identify a specific port when your system contains multiple instances of the same hardware product (for example, a chassis with multiple NI-XNET devices of the same model).
