Using the PXIe-5645 in CW Mode

Complete the following steps to use the PXIe-5645 as a continuous waveform (CW) generator when programming the PXIe-5645 using the instrument design libraries.

  1. Generate a DC tone at the baseband frequency.
  2. Upconvert the tone from step 1 to the specified RF frequency with direct upconversion.
    When programming the PXIe-5645 using NI-RFSG, use the niRFSG Configure Generation Mode VI or the niRFSG_ConfigureGenerationMode function to generate a CW signal.
When you specify the output power of the device, the instrument design libraries configure the PXIe-5645 to generate a tone at the appropriate RMS value. In CW mode, the peak power of the signal is 3 dB higher than the specified RMS value.
