A workspace together with the dashboards it contains can be saved temporarily in an XML file or permanently in the database.
Workspaces are part of a test. Save workspaces in the database. The advantage of saving to the database is that you can integrate the relevant workspace into a test. The workspace is available as a default setting the next time you generate the test. However, it might be useful to save a workspace in an XML file. For example, to make the workspace available on other control computers quickly if there is no connection to the database.
Currently, only the layout information on the dashboards and the instruments placed on it placed are stored as information on the workspace.
