Main Tab

  1. In the Step Name textbox, enter a descriptive name for the step.
  2. Verify that the Reposition Region of Interest option is enabled if you want to link the region of interest specified in this step to a previously defined coordinate system.
  3. Link the region of interest to a coordinate system if the position of the object under inspection changes from image to image, and you need to adjust the position of the region of interest to match the new location of the object.
  4. If you have not trained the software for the textures in which you want to detect defects, click New to launch the Texture Training Interface.

Refer to the Texture Training Interface Help for more information about how to train textures in the Texture Training Interface.

  5. If you have trained the software for the textures in which you want to detect defects, click the Browse button to select the path to the classifier file. When you have selected the classifier file, the path to the file appears in the Texture Classifier File Path control.
Note Click Edit to launch the Texture Training Interface and edit the classifier file.
  6. Select a display mode. The Defects Only display mode displays a binary image of the defects detected in the image. The Overlay Defects display mode overlays the detected defects on the original image.

The step automatically loads the setting specified in the classifier file.

  1. Adjust the Initial Step Size to specify the offset between search windows when searching the entire image during the initial stage of defect detection. The default value of 0 indicates no overlap between windows. A smaller, non-zero step size processes the image in more detail, but increases the time required to process the image.
  2. Adjust the Final Step Size to specify the offset between search windows when searching the regions that contain potential defects during the final stage of defect detection. The default value of 1 indicates that the classifier will reposition the window by 1 pixel as it searches for defects. Final Step Size cannot exceed the specified Initial Step Size value, unless Initial Step Size is 0.
  3. Adjust the Min Defect Classification Score if the step does not detect the expected number of defects, or if the step identifies a texture region as a texture defect.
