SCXI Communication

1378

The following table shows the pins used for SCXI communication:

Cable Accessory

Note   When certain NI-PXI 407x devices are installed in the right-most slot of a PXI/SCXI combination chassis, they can control the SCXI portion of the chassis, and no cable is needed.Refer to PXI Express Compatibility and Scanning Switch Modules for more information.
1378

This SH9MD-AUX cable allows the NI 4070/4071/4072 to communicate with SCXI switches. Refer to Scanning Switch Modules for more information.

For installation instructions for NI switch modules, refer to the NI Switches Help at either of the following locations:

  • Start»Programs»National Instruments»NI-SWITCH»Documentation»NI Switches Help (if you have installed NI-SWITCH)
  • NI Product Manuals Library Web site (if you have not installed NI-SWITCH)

Triggering

1378

The following table shows the pins used for input and output triggers, which are used during synchronous scanning or handshaking:

Pin Assignment
Pin Assignment
2 Ground
3 AUX Trigger In
6 Measurement Complete
9 External Trigger In (Trigger/Sample Trigger)

Cable Accessories

Note When certain NI-PXI 407x devices are installed in the right-most slot of a PXI/SCXI combination chassis, they can exchange measurement complete and the input trigger through the backplane, and no cable is needed. Refer to PXI Express Compatibility and Scanning Switch Modules for more information.
AUX Trigger Cable
1378

This cable allows the NI 4070/4071/4072 to trigger NI switches, third-party switches, and any other external device during synchronous scanning or handshaking scanning.

Note The AUX Trigger Cable only provides access to AUX I/O Connector Pins 2, 6, and 9, where Pin 2 is Ground and is present in both ends of the cable.
SH9MD-AUX Cable
1378

This cable allows the NI 4070/4071/4072 to control SCXI switches, send measurement complete, and receive external trigger. This functionality allows the NI 4070/4071/4072 to work under both synchronous scanning and handshaking scanning. Refer to Scanning Switch Modules for more information.

For installation instructions for NI switch modules, refer to the NI Switches Help at either of the following locations:
