National Instruments Libraries

The following libraries are optional National Instruments libraries:

  • Advanced Analysis (or Analysis)
  • Traditional NI-DAQ
  • NI-DAQmx
  • NI-CAN
  • VXI
  • GPIB/GPIB 488.2

In the National Instruments Libraries section of the Customize Library Menu dialog box, select the library name(s) that you want LabWindows/CVI to load into memory at startup. Changes do not take effect until the next time you launch LabWindows/CVI.

If you do not load a library, you cannot call any of the functions in that library and you cannot access any of its function panels.

If LabWindows/CVI fails to load a requested library, it is probably because LabWindows/CVI cannot find the appropriate files. Make sure that the files shown in the following table appear in the msvc and msvc64 folders of the directories listed in the table.

Note Note  Refer to the latest version of the product documentation at ni.com/manuals for the most up-to-date information regarding 64-bit support for LabWindows/CVI for device driver libraries.
Library File Location
Analysis or Advanced Analysis Library analysis.lib ProgramData\National Instruments\CVIversion\bin
Traditional NI-DAQ dataacq.lib CVIversion\bin
NI-DAQmx nidaqmx.lib National Instruments\Shared\CVI\Bin
NI-CAN nican.lib National Instruments\Shared\CVI\Bin
VXI nivxi.lib CVIversion\bin
GPIB/GPIB 488.2 gpib.lib CVIversion\bin
Note Note  Files for National Instruments hardware libraries might be located in CVIversion\bin instead.

You also must install the proper hardware drivers from the NI Device Drivers media to use the optional hardware libraries.
