The following block diagram illustrates PCI-5640R AD 6654 ADC operation.

AD 6654 Processing Channels

The ADC contains a six-channel DDC that can process the digitized data and perform downconversion and RF channel selection. Each channel has a programmable numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) and a bank of fixed and programmable filters. Each filter then feeds into an automatic gain control (AGC) component before traveling to the parallel port.

Each channel can be configured independently. All configuration is performed through the 8-bit interface.

If you are using the NI-5640R instrument driver, the DDC is automatically configured.

LabVIEW FPGA only: You can use the ni5640R ADC Configure DDC VI, which is included as part of the 5640R FPGA Template VIs, to program the DDC. This VI provides a useful subset of possible ADC configurations that is appropriate for most common applications. Advanced users can modify the VI to meet their needs after becoming familiar with the AD 6654. Call the ni5640R ADC Configure Multi-Channel VI to configure the DDC processing channels separately.
