Ensure that your site can accommodate requirements for the operating environment, physical characteristics, and ventilation clearances.
ETX-1640x Operating Environment
The ETX-1640x is intended for indoor use only. Ensure the location has stable environmental conditions to reduce variability in performance. Ensure the facility has cooling capacity equivalent to the maximum power consumption of the system.
| Operating temperature | 5 °C to 32 °C |
|---|---|
| Operating humidity | 10% RH to 80% RH, noncondensing |
| Pollution degree | 2 |
| Maximum altitude | 2000 m |
ETX-1640x Physical Characteristics
Ensure the location, including passageways and elevators, can accommodate the size and weight of the ETX-1640x.
| Dimensions | 1157.79 mm × 679 mm × 1971 mm (45.58 in. × 26.7 in. × 77.6 in.) |
|---|---|
| Maximum weight as shipped |
ETX-16400: 344 kg (758 lb) ETX-16401: 336.6 kg (742 lb) |
| Acoustic emissions | 64 dB, 1 m away |
ETX-1640x Mechanical Stability and Loading
Your rack is configured for optimal stability and optimal balance. Installing additional equipment may increase the risk of your rack tipping over. Make sure to preserve stability when making any changes to your rack configuration.
For IEC 61010-1 compliance, the rack and all its equipment must comply with the following weight constraints, evenly distributed between each caster.
| Model | Maximum Weight |
|---|---|
| ETX-16400, ESD casters | 544.8 kg (1200 lb) |
| ETX-16401, ESD casters | 544.8 kg (1200 lb) |
Refer to Physical Characteristics for more information. Contact NI for more information about the weight of your rack as received.
Improving Rack Stability
To further improve the stability of the rack, you can tether the rack to the floor or a wall. Make sure to keep all cooling clearances open if tethering the rack. Ensure your tether is sufficient for the weight of the rack. Ensure you perform tethering in accordance with local practices. Any securement should be made between the system frame and the surrounding structure by mechanical means able to support four times the load of the system.
ETX-1640x Center of Gravity
To ensure stability when loading or moving the rack, consult the following figure to familiarize yourself with the typical centers of gravity for the ETX-16400/16401 .
The following table describes the minimum center of gravity for the ETX-16400/16401 rack system. The rack is appropriately ballasted to ensure stability as configured and shipped from NI to stated safety standards. If hardware is integrated above this point, the integrator is responsible for performing additional evaluation and/or testing to confirm compliance with the stability requirements of IEC 61010-1 Clause 7. Additional ballasting or securement means may be required.
| Axis | Minimum Center of Gravity Measured from Floor | |
|---|---|---|
| ETX-16400 | ETX-16401 | |
| X | 190.26 mm (7.491 in.) | 170.55 mm (6.714 in.) |
| Y | 859.76 mm (33.8 in.) | 966.73 mm (38.06 in.) |
| Z | 255.38 mm (10.054 in.) | 286.79 mm (11.29 in.) |
ETX-1640x Ventilation Clearances
Ventilation clearances are required to ensure proper airflow to the ETX-1640x. Ensure obstructions are outside the following clearance requirements.
| Left and right sides | 0 mm (0 in.) |
|---|---|
| ITA side | 0 mm (0 in.) |
| HMI side | 305 mm (12 in.) |
| Top | 508 mm (20 in.) |
