Ensure that your site can accommodate requirements for the operating environment, physical characteristics, and ventilation clearances.

ETX-1630x Operating Environment

The ETX-1630x is intended for indoor use only. Ensure the location has stable environmental conditions to reduce variability in performance. Ensure the facility has cooling capacity equivalent to the maximum power consumption of the system.

Table 18. Operating Environment Requirements
Operating temperature 5 °C to 32 °C
Operating humidity 10% RH to 80% RH, noncondensing
Pollution degree 2
Maximum altitude 2000 m
Note ETX-1630x can be in standby mode at up to 40 °C but must be within the operating temperature range in normal use.

ETX-1630x Physical Characteristics

Ensure the location, including passageways and elevators, can accommodate the size and weight of the ETX-1630x.

Table 19. Physical Characteristics and Rack Air Circulation
Dimensions 1053 mm × 679 mm × 1971 mm (41.5 in. × 26.7 in. × 77.6 in.)
Maximum weight as shipped

ETX-16301: 473.35 kg (1043 lb)

ETX-16309: 468.86 kg (1033 lb)

Acoustic emissions 64 dB, 1 m away

ETX-1630x Mechanical Stability and Loading

Your rack is configured to be stable and balanced per requirements in IEC 61010-1. Installing additional equipment may increase the risk of your rack tipping over. Make sure to preserve stability when making any changes to your rack configuration.

For IEC 61010-1 compliance, the rack and all its equipment must comply with the following weight constraints, evenly distributed between each caster.

Table 20. ETX-16301/16309 Maximum Weight
Model Maximum Weight
ETX-16301, ESD casters 544.8 kg (1200 lb)
ETX-16309, ESD casters 544.8 kg (1200 lb)

Refer to Physical Characteristics for more information. Contact NI for more information about the weight of your rack as received.

Improving Rack Stability

Important There may be steel ballast plates at the bottom and right side of the rack. Do not remove the steel ballast plates. The ballast plates improve the stability and safety of the rack based on its specific configuration.

To further improve the stability of the rack, you can tether the rack to the floor or a wall. Make sure to keep all cooling clearances open if tethering the rack. Ensure your tether is sufficient for the weight of the rack. Ensure you perform tethering in accordance with local practices. Any securement should be made between the system frame and the surrounding structure by mechanical means able to support four times the load of the system.

ETX-1630x Ventilation Clearances

Ventilation clearances are required to ensure proper airflow to the ETX-1630x. Ensure obstructions are outside the following clearance requirements.

Table 21. ETX-1630x Minimum Cooling Clearances
Left and right sides 0 mm (0 in.)
ITA side 0 mm (0 in.)
HMI side 305 mm (12 in.)
Top 508 mm (20 in.)
Notice The intake temperature must be within the operating specifications.
