Generating New Channels in the Data Portal

Use the context menu of the Data Portal to generate new channels in a group. You can create numeric channels, time channels, text channels, and formula channels. You can then view these channels in DIAdem VIEW. For example, to generate a text channel and to view this channel in DIAdem VIEW, complete the following steps:

1. Open the Data Portal.

2. Right-click the group that you want to generate new channels in.

Note  If the Data Portal does not contain a group, select New»Group from the context menu and generate a new group.

3. Select New»Channel in the context menu.

4. Enter a name, for example, Text channel.

Note  If you generate several channels, DIAdem adds numbers to the channels.

5. Specify how many channels to generate.

6. Select the display format String.

7. Click OK.

8. Right-click the top entry in the Data Portal.

9. Select View Data from the context menu. DIAdem switches to DIAdem VIEW and displays the contents of all channels of the Data Portal in a table.
