Generating a Formula Channel in the Data Portal

Use the context menu of the Data Portal to generate new channels in a group. You can create numeric channels, time channels, text channels, and formula channels. To generate a formula channel, complete the following steps:

1. Open the Data Portal.

2. Right-click the channel to which you want to add a new formula channel.

3. Select New»Formula Channel in the context menu.

4. Enter a channel name for the formula channel, for example, Power. If a channel with the specified name already exists, DIAdem creates a channel with the name and an appended number.

5. Enter the formula, for example, RPM * Torque. The easiest way to do this is to drag the corresponding channels from the Data Portal into the Formula input field.

6. Click OK.

DIAdem generates the formula channel and calculates the values. If the channels used in the formula change, click the Update Values button to recalculate the calculation channels.
