To execute an open circuit voltage (OCV) measurement, the Battery Cell Quality Toolkit requires the following information.

  • The voltage at which the DMM takes measurements. To measure the battery voltage, the DMM is typically in the 10 V range. The voltage range varies if the battery is operating at a voltage below 1 V or above 10 V .
  • The power line frequency of the facility, which is 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
  • The number of cycles used for the measurement. In the Battery Cell Quality Toolkit, the number of cycles is the Aperture Time (PLC). You can use 1 cycle. However, for optimal measurements, use 5 cycles when the power line frequency of the facility is 50 Hz. Use 6 cycles when the power line frequency of the facility is 60 Hz.

If you require multiple measurements, you can also select the number of measurements to average (the Number of Averages in the Battery Cell Quality Toolkit). The result is an average of the measurements of the power line cycle duration you defined.
