Editing a Waveform

You edit the waveform at the component level. To edit a waveform component, complete the following steps:

  1. Right-click any area of the waveform and select Edit Component to launch the Component Editor. The Component Editor displays the component that you selected in the main window.
  2. Add, modify, move , or delete  primitives as needed.
Note  The operation associated with each primitive is applied in order, from top to bottom, as shown in the Primitive Types list. To change the order of operations, move primitives up or down using the Component Editor.
Tip  A filter primitive cannot be the first primitive in the list.
  3. Click OK to save your changes.
  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 as necessary to edit other components of the waveform.
  5. To delete a component, right-click the component in the main window and select Delete Component from the shortcut menu.
Note  It is also possible to edit the waveform using the NI-HWS API, but NI-HWS has no effect on the waveform specification data. Because the NI Analog Waveform Editor rebuilds the waveform using the specification data, a waveform edited using NI-HWS and reloaded into the NI Analog Waveform Editor appears as it did when last saved in the NI Analog Waveform Editor. Changes made in NI-HWS do not appear because the arbitrary data and the specification data do not match. Resave the waveform in the NI Analog Waveform Editor to synchronize the waveform with its specification data.
