Measuring and Understanding Group Delay

Group Delay is a measurement that can be used to quantify distortion and determine dielectric and mechanical properties of a circuit.  While it is simple to take this measurement using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), some mathematical background is required to properly configure the test system and analyze the results.  This webcast explains the theory behind Group Delay using simple mathematical examples.  The webcast also gives practical advice for setting up the system and demonstrates taking a measurement using National Instruments LabVIEW, the NI PXIe-5630 VNA, and the NI-VNA instrument driver.
