Signal Generation

The generation of signals is an important part of any test or measurement system. The following applications are examples of uses for signal generation:

Simulate signals to test an algorithm when real-world signals are not available, for example, when you do not have a DAQ device for obtaining real-world signals or when access to real-world signals is not possible.
Generate signals to apply to a digital-to-analog (D/A) converter.

The LabWindows/CVI Advanced Analysis Library includes the following signal generation functions:

Function	Description
ArbitraryWave	Arbitrary waveform generation.
Chirp	Generates a chirp signal.
GaussNoise	Generates an array of random Gaussian numbers distributed with expected zero mean value and the standard deviation you specify.
Impulse	Generates an array that has the pattern of an impulse waveform.
Pulse	Generates an array that represents the pattern of a pulse waveform.
Ramp	Generates an output array that represents a ramp pattern.
SawtoothWave	Generates a saw-toothed waveform.
Sinc	Generates a sinc pattern.
SinePattern	Generates a sine pattern.
SineWave	Generates a sine waveform.
SquareWave	Generates a square waveform.
Triangle	Generates a triangle pattern.
TriangleWave	Generates a triangle waveform.
Uniform	Generates an array of random numbers that are distributed uniformly between zero and one.
WhiteNoise	Generates an array of random numbers that are uniformly distributed between -amp and amp, where amp is the amplitude of the noise.
