Timing and Synchronization products such as those listed below use the timing and synchronization attributes of each platform for advanced multi-device synchronization. These devices also enable time synchronization to references including GPS, IEEE 1588, and IRIG.



Time-Based Products  

PXI-6683 / PXI-6683H

 

GPS, IEEE 1588 and IRIG-B Timing and Synchronization for PXI

  • Synchronize PXI and PXI Express systems using GPS, IEEE 1588-2008 (IEC 61588:2009), PPS or IRIG-B
  • Available for PXI systems (PXI-6683) and PXI Express systems (PXI-6683H)
  • Supports disciplining the onboard TCXO (1 ppm) to any sync source
  • Onboard high-stability TCXO (1 ppm)
  • Onboard routing of internal and external clock and trigger signals
  • Can be used as a PXI slot 2 star trigger controller (not available on PXI-6683H)

PCI-1588

 

IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) Synchronization Over Ethernet

  • Synchronizes internal timebase using IEEE 1588 or PPS (pulse per second).
  • TCXO reference frequency for accuracy (2 parts per million).
  • Generate synchronized events and clock signals at specified synchronized times and timestamp to the synchronized time.
  • Sub-microsecond synchronization over Ethernet using standard RJ-45 Ethernet plug and CAT5 cabling.

Software Synchronization

  • Allows for software / code synchronization to time references including IEEE 1588 without the need for specialized hardware.
  • Current support includes cRIO, sbRIO, compactFP, and NI Vision products.
