1. Interactively Manage Calculations
Prior to DIAdem Version 11.1, developers wishing to perform a series of consecutive analysis operations – especially in scenarios where dependencies exist from one calculation to another – were inevitably forced to create scripts involving temporary storage channels and looping or branching structures. Using the new Calculation Manager, developers can interactively create calculation groups that perform consecutive calculations with a logical flow and interface automatically with the Units Catalog to ensure calculation unit uniformity. Developers also can import, export, and easily distribute individual calculations or even entire calculation groups to groups or departments managing data with DIAdem 11.1 or later to ensure that all team members are using identical calculations.

2. Filter and Preview the Data Portal
One of the biggest strengths of DIAdem is the power it gives developers manipulating extremely large data sets. However, after having loaded large data sets, isolating particular channel groups or channels of interest within the set can still be cumbersome. DIAdem 11.1 includes enhancements to the Data Portal that help developers filter loaded data by either channel group or channel name so that they can interact with only the subsection of the data set needed at a particular time. Furthermore, selecting a channel in the Data Portal now yields a preview of the channel’s data so that developers can get a good idea of the channel’s contents before manipulation.

3. Import and Export NI DataFinder Configurations
To find relevant data where it is stored, both locally and remotely, the NI DataFinder must be appropriately configured to index specific files and folders on disk. Furthermore, NI DataFinder settings dictate which DataPlugins to use with associated file extensions. With the latest version of DIAdem, developers can now import, export, and distribute NI DataFinder configuration settings for quick and easy standardization among team members.

4. Preview ANALYSIS Functions
In DIAdem 11.1, all function configuration dialog boxes in DIAdem ANALYSIS now have previews of calculation results before the operation is actually executed. Previews update dynamically so that developers can get a good sense of how individual parameter choices and changes will ultimately affect a result, which saves valuable engineering time previously spent performing mistaken calculations.

5. View Multiple Y-Axes
Using the latest version of DIAdem, developers can take advantage of up to 12 different Y-axes – one per channel graphed – for a single 2D-axis system. Y-axes automatically label, color code, and scale based on the amplitude of the channel they correspond to.

6. Display Contour Areas
DIAdem 11.1 includes a new Contour display area in DIAdem VIEW. Fully customizable, the Contour display area is ideal for 3D data where amplitude needs to be represented in a unique and intuitive way. Using DIAdem VIEW to play back data, developers can take advantage of 2D-axis systems used with the new Contour area to visualize test or simulation results in a new way: they can dynamically update horizontal or vertical cross sections. With this new visualization technique, developers can drag the graph cursor horizontally or vertically to view a dynamic representation of amplitude data displayed in two dimensions.

7. Convert CAN Logfiles
Developers gathering CAN data benefit from the new CAN logfile converter. Using the CAN Converter, developers can automatically convert CAN logs in the most common formats to the technical data management (TDM) file format and load them directly into DIAdem for further visualization and analysis. Developers also can import, export, and easily distribute CAN Converter configuration settings to members of a large group or organization to ensure standardization.

8. Use Code Completion and External Type Libraries
The script editor in DIAdem 11.0 incorporates CodeCompletion and enhanced syntax highlighting to simplify the creation of object-oriented scripts. In DIAdem 11.1, this feature for predicting code used in SCRIPT now works for all DIAdem objects. Furthermore, the latest version of DIAdem 11.1 supports the registration of external and third-party type libraries. By including a type library that has been registered with the computer’s operating system, developers can use the DIAdem CodeCompletion functionality to display the properties and methods of objects within that type library.

9. Customize the Environment
In some situations, such as during formal presentations about analysis results or when trying to limit functionality for a particular user, developers do not need the full extent of DIAdem functionality for finding, visualizing, analyzing, and reporting data and should hide this functionality. They can use the new environment customization capabilities of DIAdem 11.1 to add, remove, or modify all of the panels, toolbars, and menu items within DIAdem. Developers can add custom functionality to menus or limit the exposure of functionality in cases when only a subset of features is appropriate.
