Overview

This article provides information and specifications for two portable student devices: the Analog Discovery 2 and the NI myDAQ.

Student devices are multifunction data acquisition and controls instruments that enable students to experiment anywhere, anytime.

These devices do not replace laboratory time but they supplement: adding experiments to better solidify theory which did not fit into the prescribed lab time.

The two main implementations of student devices are flipped classrooms and portable labs. Watch Dr. Bonnie Ferri’s video above to learn more about flipped classrooms.

Analog Discovery 2 - NI Edition

myDAQ

Analog Discovery is a portable data acquisition device that combines over 5 bench-top instruments into a single pocket-sized device. myDAQ gives students the ability to easily interface with sensors and measurements to view live signals in complex systems.

The Bottom Line The Analog Discovery 2 is ideal for the breadth of electrical engineering courses. It delivers the power of 5 bench-top instruments through a small OS-agnostic front panel. myDAQ introduces students to the basic instruments used throughout science and  engineering courses. It gives students the ability to focus on taking measurements, not setting them up.
