The frequency of the carrier signal, which is a sinusoidal signal upon which the desired signal to be transmitted is modulated. The sinusoidal carrier signal hereby "carries" the desired signal. Upon reception, the carrier wave is demodulated to extract the desired signal. The frequency of your carrier wave is higher than the signal that you want to transmit. This is because higher frequencies are more efficient to transmit and allow for smaller antennas.
