Used by Phase modulation to determine the information carried in the RF signal. This is done by increasing or decreasing the phase of the signal by 180 degrees to convey a one or zero.
Measuring phase requires more post-processing than measuring amplitude and can be measured using equipment such as a Vector Signal Analyzer. This is due to the difficulty in determining if the signal was shifted by +180 degrees or -180 degrees.
